JIM CARREY

An actor, screenwriter and producer, he was born in 1962 in Newmarket, Canada. Jim Carrey started his carrier in the 80-ties when he appeared on The Tonight Show and Saturday Night Live, produced by NBC. He became famous for the roles in such movies as Ace Venture: Pet Detective, Bruce Almighty, and Truman Show. In 1997 Jim Carrey was listed in People among the top 50 most handsome men in the world.

JAMES CAVIEZEL

The movie actor was born in 1968 in Mount Vernon, USA. When he was young, James Caviezel dreamed about becoming an NBA basketball player; however, he gave up his plans after an injury. This incident made him think about becoming an actor. James earned his recognition with the role of Private Witt in the 1998 war drama The Thin Red Line. He was also acknowledged for the performances of Edmund Dantes in the screen adaptation of The Count of Monte Cristo and Jesus Christ in the famous movie The Passion of the Christ, directed by Mel Gibson.

BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH

A British actor and film producer, he was born in 1976 in London. The role of Sherlock Holmes in 2010 Sherlock series was one of the performances that led to his popularity. He is also known for roles in Doctor Strange or Imitation Game and was nominated as the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his performance in Imitation Game. In June 2015, Benedict Cumberbatch was awarded the honour of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire by Queen Elizabeth II for his contribution to the art of acting and charity work.

DEPECHE MODE

This British band was established in 1980 and is one of the icons of electronic music and alternative rock. The band is composed of:

– Dave Gahan (lead vocals)
– Andrew Fletcher (bass and keyboards)
– Martin Gore (electric guitar, keyboard and co-lead vocals)

In 1980 during the concert at the Bridge House in London, the band drew the attention of Daniel Miller, the founder of Mute Records. Several months later, their single New Life was ranked 11 on the UK Singles Chart. Over a few decades, their dark songs, which combine electronic sounds with rock’s impetus, have won the hearts of millions of fans worldwide. The band has sold over 40 million copies of their albums so far.

ROMAN POLAŃSKI

A Polish-French director, actor and producer, he was born in 1933 in Paris to a Polish and Jewish family. In 1958, when studying at the National Film School in Łódź, he was recognised for a short film “Two Men and a Wardrobe” at the EXPO in Brussels. Several years later, his Knife in the Water was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. In 2002 he directed a war drama, The Pianist, which was widely recognised (i.e. Golden Palm and the awards of the French Film Academy). His extensive film work allowed him to become one of the best influencers of worldwide cinematography.

ANDRZEJ WAJDA

A director and screenwriter, he was born in 1926 in Suwałki. The first film that helped him succeed on the world stage was Kanał, a motion picture dedicated to the Warsaw Uprising awarded the Silver Palm at the Cannes Film Festival. Ash and Diamond was another influential masterpiece directed by Andrzej Wajda. Over the years, he became one of the icons of the world’s cinematography. His exceptional contribution led to his receiving Honorary Oscar in 2000 in recognition of his lifetime achievement. He was also awarded the Order of the White Eagle.

HANS ZIMMER

A composer and film music producer, he was born in 1957 in Frankfurt am Main. The first breakthrough in his career happened in 1988 when his soundtrack to Rain Man was nominated for the Academy Awards. Seven years later, he was awarded the Oscar for the music for The Lion King, produced by Disney. He created pieces, among others, for The Thin Red Line, The Dark Knight and Interstellar, directed by Christoper Nolan. Hans Zimmer has composed soundtracks for over 120 films.
